What Our Clients Say*

Christopher Newport University - As the Director of University Housing, I am constantly faced with questions on the quality of the air in our student Residence Halls and Apartments from students and parents as more and more students are arriving on campus with allergies, asthma and other health issues related to their physical environment. We are also finding that even though all of our buildings are air conditioned, less then 15 years old and well maintained, we do have out breaks of mold and other airborne contaminants during the year. To address the need for reducing the out breaks of air contaminants and to help meet the needs of our students, you were gracious enough to let us try three units this past fall in rooms experiencing sudden growth spurts of mold. The positive effects of the units were immediately noticed by the students and my housekeeping staff. The students reported the air as smelling cleaner, no longer seeing any mold and did not have the same level of illness as their peers. There were no issues with the units being noisy and all of them felt the units had added to their residential experience. When my housekeeping staff went into the rooms a couple of days after the machines were running they were able to treat the mold in less time and disruption than in the past. Since we performed the initial treatment the mold has not resurfaced as it had prior to installation of the AO Technology units. I am impressed with the effectiveness of these units and purchased the three test units and three additional units including one for the main Housing office. We will use our current units as part of our response to mold out breaks and as students report issues related to their medical concerns. In the future, I plan to purchase additional units to provide parents and students the option of increasing the air quality through the rental of units for their rooms. I want to thank you and John Gentry for introducing the AO Technologies indoor environmental solutions to Christopher Newport University and look forward to expanding our relationship.

Northstar Christian Academy - I had a purifier running in my classroom since the beginning of the school year because of the chemicals, biologicals and odors from my classes and labs. As a high school biology teacher, I usually have a major laboratory project involving obtaining and growing bacteria from several places throughout our school. For the bacteria experiment, I completely forgot to turn the purifier off prior to sending my students out with sterile inoculating loops for their bacterial samples. When the students returned to transfer their bacteria onto sterile agar plates to grow cultures, these loops and plates were exposed to the fresh air from your purifier for only a few seconds. The 28 plates were then sealed and placed in an incubator for several days. Each day, the students record their observations about the number and size of bacterial and mold colonies rowing in the cultures. After a week, only a couple plates showed just a very few colonies. Normally, all plates have a generous number of different bacterial colonies. I then suspected the purifier since it was the only thing different in the classroom than in previous years. I turned it off on Friday. Over the next week, my students all started over again with fresh plates. This time, in the absence of the purifier’s fresh air, all plates grew bacteria and molds as expected. I kept the purifier off until all students had finished. I was very surprised at how well the purifier performed because the bacterial plates were only opened for approximately 10-15 seconds. However, this brief amount of time was apparently sufficiently long enough to kill off nearly all bacteria and molds. This purifier has definitely made an improvement in the air quality in my classroom. Thank you.

Niagara Arms Retirement Hotel and Residence - “I have been working in the nursing and retirement field for over thirty years now...Over the years we have had numerous chemical products, and may I say, at great expense not only in chemical costs, but also in staffing costs, to try to eliminate urine odors from residents' suites, which are all carpeted, where incontinence has created an odor problem...We put your larger unit in the hallway of our care floor, and the smaller unit was tested in a suite where nothing we had tried before would eliminate the urine odor for any length of time. Within four hours, the odor was significantly reduced, and by the next morning you wouldn’t have known we had any odor problems in the suite...A member of the resident’s family came in on the first evening in which your air purifier had been placed in the suite, and made a point of asking what we had done to eliminate the odor and make the air smell so fresh. Needless to say, he bought the air purifier immediately for his relative...We have recently submitted several tenders for upcoming Nursing Home beds, and after seeing the results we get, and the cost effectiveness obtained, we have made your air purifiers part of our tender, in which if successful in winning a bid, we will be putting one in each suite of our proposed 240 bed unit.

Liberty Bell Museum – as tens of thousands visit the Liberty Bell each year, they will be breathing rainstorm-fresh air, because the visitor’s staging area is protected with ActivePureTM in-duct systems.

Ground Zero Museum – in New York City, the doors to the Ground Zero Museum opened in remembrance to the tragic events of 9/11. On display were artifacts recovered from the rubble of the Twin Towers. While the experience of walking through the museum was very emotional, it was also difficult to reflect on the displays due to the lingering effects of the day. There were terrible odors in the air! However, today ActivePureTM systems are treating the air of the Ground Zero Museum. “When our staff came in the day after the systems were installed, they could tell immediately that the air was cleaner,” says Gary Suson, curator of the museum.

Clevedon Hospital, Somerset, England – Clevedon Hospital wants to keep its record of never having had a case of MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), a sickness that patients sometimes catch in the hospital. To do this, they installed ActivePureTM systems. “We are pleased to reassure our community that we are working hard to protect the hospital and its patients from infection,” said Matron Gwen Hobbs in a BBC News report in January 2007.

Goddard School, a preschool and daycare in Mechanicsburg, PA – Since owners Nancy and Ken Goss installed the ActivePureTM system, “Absenteeism went down more than 75%,” said Shannon Murphy, director of the school. “Parents and teachers say they noticed an improvement in the quality of the air right away,” Murphy said. “It smells cleaner here.”
